Where to Go / What to Do in Ciudad del Carmen

The island of Ciudad del Carmen is the ideal place to be touched by nature and to enjoy the beach and the beautiful sight of the mangroves of the Terminos lagoon. In the popular beach of Isla Aguada it is possible to practice water sports like snorkeling, scuba, windsurfing and swimming, also, it counts with an excellent golf course for those who enjoy practicing this sport.

Although discovered in 1518, Isla del Carmen was colonized much later because of the great concentration of efforts focused on the Great Tenochtitlán and the tenacious resistance of the Mayas.

Between February and March, popular dances, the crowning of the Carnival's King and Queen and a boisterous parade of floats are celebrated every year.

The Carmen Virgin Part is a regional celebration of national interest in honor of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the foundation and registration of this town, held every year on July 14 to 31. Folk dances, fireworks, agricultural and crafts exhibits, palenques, fishing competitions and cuisine fairs and celebrated.
