Where to Go / What to Do in Matamoros

Touring this ancient fortified city will take you back to the era when the Heroic City of Matamoros had to defend itself from enemy attacks. Visit one of the vigilance towers turned into a museum, Casamata; take a trip through the Central Plaza; visit the colorful Juarez Market, hosting El Parian since the colonial era; the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Refugio, city's patron; Teatro Reforma and Colegio de San Juan, among others.

You can also visit Playa Bagdad, with a simple restaurant structure, huts and recently installed public showers; the great hotel chains and beach clubs haven't arrived yet. For which its tranquility will allow you to enjoy the sea, sand and sun "“at will"”.
