Politics of Jalisco
Outstanding among the productive sectors of Jalisco are the food and beverage, shoes, automobiles, manufacturing, jewel, clothing and furniture industries, as well as the metal mechanics, paper, cardboard and graphic arts supplies, textiles, chemicals, electronics and mining in general because its geographic traits grant the entity a varied array of resources that can be used in many productive activities. Jalisco is the main agricultural producer in the country, contributing to 8.44% of the national GDP and 20% of the national corn production; 25% eggs; 20% pork; 17% milk and more than 12% of honey, poultry and beef production. These activities have been improved throughout time by the employment of new machinery, techniques and fertilizers. Bean, onion, peppers and agave crops have a vast extension throughout Jaliscoâs territory. The financial services activity and foreign exchange have constantly developed, becoming more important in the last years and reaching quality levels that fulfill all policies and requirements established by international markets. Its location on the Pacific coast and its closeness to the ports of Manzanillo and Puerto Vallarta grant Jalisco an advantage for commercial routes to the north and other countries.
