Politics of Coahuila

Coahuila has a strategic geographic location with a transportation infrastructure with great potential for its economical development and increase its industrial and commercial competiveness. It has been highly relevant for the citizens of Coahuila and its government to achieve including the small rural areas into the State’s development with a historical impulse on the paving of rural highways to improve the lifestyle of those living in marginalized communities by promoting their human and economical progress. Coahuila is a State striving to provide its citizens with the best opportunities of a dignified, safe and well compensated job; working for a first class production infrastructure and innovative, technical and competitive industries. Such central axis includes attracting new investments for creating more jobs; training; promoting small companies (PyMES); consolidating productive sectors already installed in the State; such as the tourism, mining and energy industries; the promotion of agricultural, science and technology activities, and improving the State’s productive infrastructure. The Ministry of Economic Promotion of the State was created to impulse the economical development of the entity in an integral and sustainable manner in order to increase competiveness, stimulate investments, promote permanent and rewarding jobs; and guarantee the efficient use of regional infrastructure and productive resources. The importance of the fields and their needs is vital for the State; therefore, there are agricultural, farming, forestry, hydraulic and agro-industrial programs and regulations. Supporting farmers and rural producers developing of production projects, self-employment opportunities and credits has been a key strategy for turning the fields of Coahuila into a self-sufficient industry. Areas of Protected Agriculture have been installed in Coahuila. From 1990 until today, there are nine thousand hectares of protected agriculture throughout the country. There is also a program of Agricultural Land Leveling, allowing a uniform distribution of irrigation systems. Wheat is the most important crop in the State, covering up to 5,600 hectares Turing the fall-winter cycle. The promotion of Forage Production is one of the strategies to preserve forage through silos and pecan trees (Cayra Ilinoensis Koch), a highly valuable forest species currently receiving notorious support and promotion.
